ACA Subsidies Extended - GOP Plan Non-Existent
So here we are. After all this talk of a new health care plan by GOP leaders, after Mike Johnson (GOP speaker of the house) told reporters a new, fancy health care plan would be rolled out after the government shutdown ended, they extended Obamacare. This has been a thorn in Trump's side for many months. Not only is it the best, and possibly only, plan for affordable heath care proposed by the two parties, it has Obama's name on it!

GOP leaders have been tormenting their citizens for many months by refusing to extend these subsidies. Some reports stated that the average American's heath insurance premiums could more than double because of their failure to do so. The reasoning behind this lack of motivation to keep the subsidies alive is unclear, other than the obvious "Trump doesn't like it and we're a bunch of puppets" explanation. The GOP has stated for a long time now that The Affordable Care Act is not a good solution, but the closest thing to a counter-proposal that we have heard lately is Trump's ridiculous suggestion of simply giving every American a couple grand and essentially saying "figure it out yourselves". This isn't even, to borrow a term from Trump himself, the concept of a plan. This "proposal" is just idiocy, but what more could you expect from a billionaire who was born with a silver filet-o-fish in his mouth.
So all this bluster, all these affronts to the ACA, all these "concepts of plans" and "notebooks full of ideas", and the best option according to a majority of lawmakers in the house of representatives is to extend the ACA subsidies. So if you're American and you've been stressed for the last several months, as you poured over your finances and tried to figure out how to fit health insurance into your already dwindled finances, just rest assured that it was for nothing. As Americans see record-high unemployment rates, higher prices at the gas pump, higher totals at the grocery store, at least you can take solace at the fact that your broken health care system is not going to become more broken.
